Our detachment operates as a non-profit. We focus on providing scholarships for college and technical schools to deserving children of Marines and Sailors stationed aboard Marine Corps Base, Hawaii, and to students enrolled in high school Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs on Oahu. In 2010, our first year of offering scholarships, the Detachment awarded $18,000 in scholarships to deserving students. Throughout 2010, the Detachment raised nearly $32,000 through contributions of its members and a second successful New Year's Eve benefit. This will enable us to award up to eight, $4,000 scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year.
We would like to thank our many supporters for their help in making our New Year's Eve scholarship benefit such a great success. We remind them and other donors that as a national not-for-profit [501(c)(4)] contributions to the Marine Corps League, Aloha Detachment Scholarship Fund are tax deductible. Our tax identification number is 23-7110190. Donations may be sent via check or money order to the address below and will always be acknowledged on our donors list.
